NH Senate Race Update: No-Show Sununu is Skipping the WMUR Debate

Republican U.S. Senate candidate John Sununu is refusing to debate his primary opponent Scott Brown on the biggest debate stage in New Hampshire politics, running from Granite Staters’ questions as he tries to skirt through to the primary election. This decision comes less than a week after Sununu skipped a Republican primary forum in his hometown of Salem and less than a week after a Manchester voter mistakenly thought John’s brother Chris was the one running. 

“John Sununu completely chickening out on the WMUR debate is further proof that he’s running a scared campaign, propped up by his daddy’s last name and his endorsement from Donald Trump. It’s embarrassing, undemocratic, and not the way to win over New Hampshire voters,” said New Hampshire Democratic Party Chair Raymond Buckley. “If Sununu thinks he’s entitled to this seat, he’s in for a real shock when Granite Staters reject him at the polls for selling our state out to Trump and corporate special interests.”
